you can enter the field two ways. To be a probation officer you could enter as a probation officer assistant which requires an associates degree. to be a probation officer right out of school you need atleast a BA.
You will need to concentrate either in social work, psych, or criminal justice.
I would say go for criminal justice with a minor or concentration in social work.
Atleast you will have both fields then incase one doesnt work.
Check what ever state you live in there job vacancies and you will see all requirements as well for your state probation officers.

In Indiana and in a large number of different states, you elect a Bachelor's degree (both BA or BS) from an permitted college with the intention to develop right into a probation officer. It would not might want to be in offender Justice both, notwithstanding that would make you larger probable to get employed. My BA is in historic previous, yet we produce different officials in our branch with ranges in practise, Psychology, and faith, besides as different fields. maximum people with non-offender justice ranges got here to the occupation of probation after operating in different fields.
