It's ok to SMILE once in awhile. Even in the face of troubled times. . . . When you're weary. . . . feeling small. . . .. when tears get in your eyes,. . . I will dry them all . .. .I'm on your side . .. ooooh . when you need a friend . . .and friends just can't be found . .. . like a bridge o-o-o-ver troubled waters. . . .I will ease your mind... .

With the war going on I dont think anyone should be singing that song. I am a Republican and voted for Bush in the last election and will probably vote Republican in the next one also. But that is only because there is no viable alternative. I cant in any good conscience vote Dem. But the fact remains that we have been lied to by our elected officials, we were told that there was credible evidence that there was nuclear enrichment going on and we let them talk us into a war on that basis. Now not only is there no nukes there, but now many of them are admitting that they knew there was no nukes. We are in a war that we have no business being in, we went into another country and toppled their government. I know he was a dictator and the world is a better place without him, but that could be said of many countries in the world. It is still not our right to invade them. Now we have started a civil war in Iraq because of a failure to understand the country's history and their politics, we thought that we will go in there, kick out Saddam and they will go OK now lets all work together and make a nice country. It doesnt work that way in that part of the world, there, when a leader seizes power, he doesnt let it go until he is forced to, either he is assassinated, dies, or is kicked out the same way. They have a history of sectarian violence and they are willing to die to have their sect be in control. When the Sunni's were in control the Shia's were persecuted, and the Kurds were killed so now all sides are struggling for power, they believe that whatever side gets power the others will be in for the same. They do not have a history of power sharing like we do. And they are willing to die for that power. So what do we do now? Say lets get the heck out of here which is what the Dems want to do? Leave their country in a civil war which we caused and dont know how to end. We have a responsibility to stay the course but I dont think we should be celebrating when so many young peoples lives are being given to pay for the mistakes and lies of our leaders.

We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again

The change, it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fold, that's all
And the world looks just the same
And history ain't changed
'Cause the banners, they all flown in the last war

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
No, no!

I'll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
I'll get all my papers and smile at the sky
For I know that the hypnotized never lie

Do ya?

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

There's nothing in the street
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Is now the parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no!

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)
Bob Dylan

For them that must obey authority
That they do not respect in any degree
Who despise their jobs, their destinies
Speak jealously of them that are free
do what they do just to be
Nothing more than something
They invest in.

While them that defend what they cannot see
With a killer's pride, security
It blows the minds most bitterly
For them that think death's honesty
Won't fall upon them naturally
Life sometimes
Must get lonely.

And if my thought-dreams could be seen
They'd probably put my head in a guillotine
But it's alright, Ma, it's life, and life only.

*Oh dear. Cross post with the previous...on my honor, I honestly thought of the same song on my own, I did not see the person's post above me...*

Its the end of the world as we know it...its the end of the world as we know it...ITs time I had some time alone...Time I had some time alone... (without Neocons!)

Cheney's got a gun, Cheney's got a gun whole world's come undone. What did his lawyer do, what did he put you through....

Doors -- Break on Through

James McMurtree's Childish Things-0 Can't make it here anymore

And last but not least-- From Carmina Burana

caveat ruinam!
sub axe legimus
Hecubam reginam.

The libs will claim yet another election is stolen because eveyone they know agrees with them, therefore no republicans could have won.

The GOP will continue to lack the motivation to fight against RINOs like Snow and Chaffe in the primaries.

"Fire and Rain"

Been walkin' my mind to an easy time
My back turned towards the sun
Lord knows when the cold wind blows
It'll turn your head around
Well, there's hours of time on the telephone line
To talk about things to come
Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground
