Check with human resources, they will be able to give you specifics on claiming unpaid vacation time. I know for instance, some companies only pay out unpaid vaca time if you give two weeks notice. If you don't give two weeks then you lose your vacation. You may not be getting it because of some policy listed in the employee handbook.

It depends on the company's policy. If you were told the unused vacation time was compensable, then you should have been entitled to it. Some companies have a "use-it-or-lose-it" policy.

contact their human resource dept. and talk to them if they still refuse take them to small claims court or call the BBB
