Your doctor really should have explained this to you. You need to talk to the doctor. Only he/she will have these answers.

More than likely, if there was any indication that an "abnormal" pap smear was indicative of a problem, your doctor would have scheduled an appointment for further testing and to explain the results. There are many things they are looking for in this test, and many reasons why it could be "abnormal." I am certain your doctor would be glad to review the results with you to let you know what the "abnormal" reading is on your pap smear, but because the doctor is the only one with your results, you'd have to go to the doctor to find out the true reason. I'd definitely check. Maybe there's something you're not aware of that's easily fixed, but he expects that you already know.

Don't be too concerned. The most common reason for an abnormal pap-smear is that the doctor or nurse found that some of your cells represented an infection, like too much yeast, vaginal infection, etc. If they didn't say anything to you, then the infected cells were so minute that they knew there wouldn't be any problems, and they didn't want to scare you.
My pap smears are ALWAYS abnormal because I have HIGH HIGH mounts of yeast in my body, so my vagina is always inflamed and cells are always indicative of an infection.

You had 2 abnormal pap smears, and your doctor didnt tell you what it means? You should really call them and ask them about this.
I believe they are checking for cancerous cells.
Although, if it comes out abnormal.. that doesn't necessarily mean its cancer - so dont start freaking out yet.
