I know this chick who:

1. Doesn't like people who hunt or fish, because that is killing.
2. Won't go to a seafood restaurant where there's a live tank, because she doesn't want things killed just for her.
3. Loves to eat steak and all kinds of meat, as long as it's already dead.
4. Had an abortion several years back (she was suppose to have twins) and laughs, "can you see me as a mother?"

Is thinking this way characteristic of some sort of mental desease?

Aloha from Down Unda!
Sounds like a case of:
"The difference between a Whore & a Witch [that's with a capital 'B']? I'm not sure which is which but, one will screw everyone & the other will screw everyone but me."
The mental disease you allude to is called 'life as we know it'.
I won't hunt or fish because we have a new thing called 'supermarkets' & it's stupid.
I'm looking at that tank filled with 'cockroaches on steriods' & can understand her reluctance.
I have objections to abortions but I can't see myself as a father either, so I have a vasectomy & it seems I'm afflicted with the same kind of 'desease'*.
We are all products of our enviroments & since you have the ability to count to 4 with fair skills in communicating, it is a mystery to comprehend your concern, unless you happened to be the father of the aborted twins. In that case, your question should be,
"Do you know a girl for me that wants to hunt, fish, eat lobster & be a mother to our children?"
As a 56 year old husband to a beautiful woman for more than 36 years, let me assure you that the one picked shares my own values & mindset.
If a relationship with 'this chick' (SO politically incorrect) is of such concern, perhaps you BOTH could gain from group therapy to identify & overcome 'some sort of mental desease'*, or just learn some tolerance. Maybe church too.

My husband is the same as 1 and 3. I don't understand it much either. I think it is because there is a huge disconnect between a slab of beef, and an actua live animal. My husband is a complete city boy, so that is why he is okay with eating a processed animal (he never has to see it) but feels that it is wrong to kill a lobster/crab/fish. I find it silly and frankly think if you can't kill it, you shouldn't eat it. I've lived on a farm and killed chickens and fish, crabs, etc. so I don't feel bad about eating those things.

Lots of people are like that, especially if they have been raised in the city. For the first 3 on your list, she is out of touch with where food (meat, fish, poultry) comes from.

The 4th on your list implies immaturity/narcissism. And with an attitude like hers, would you want her raising kids? Hopefully she is practicing birth control that prevents conception. Dealing with the abortion is her burden not yours.

Well... I've been a vegetarian for over 2 years, I can see #1 and #2.. but when I got to #3 that just confuses the hell out of me.

But I'd pay attention to subtle clues and hints she drops.

I agree with melouofs - people are inconsistent.

I have a sister-in-law who won't have salt in her house, but insists on eating at a restaurant or having fast food at least once a day the worst food you can eat for salt content. She won't use a public restroom but lets their dogs lick her mouth.

Yes, a bit disturbed. I'd stay away from someone that neurotic.
I have a friend (of a friend) that smokes several packs per day but takes vitamins and "runs" on the treadmill everyday and has asthma. I try to stay away from her.

No, no mental desease, just a weird person. Probably thinks she's the best....

Just a woman with unstable thinking...she seems to do whatever suits her at the time...not dependable.well, to be fair, most of us are somewhat neurotic...I wouldn't put her as psychotic though.

She sounds like a normal woman. Don't try to figure her out, you'll only go batty. Let her be. If you like her enough, stay with her. If you are starting to feel uncomfortable with her, it's better to dump her now before the relationship goes too far.

Alot of people are like that. Their ideals are incongruous with one another. I would ignore her nonsense altogether. What about priests who are pedophiles, or pro lifers who believe in the death penalty or health nuts who drink alcohol...
