A. No, not every single town in the US has latinos. Mine doesn't.
B. Many areas in the midwest, particularly in sparsely populated farming areas, have only 1 hospital. They would be lucky if it was actually in their town and not 50 miles away. Rural hospitals are closing all the time, because few of the people they serve have health insurance and they can't afford to stay open.
C. I think both jake and the black guy are former government employees. Gray anderson is a bad guy, but not in a terrorist way - he wants to take control of the local government and turn it into a big brother fascist type operation - he will have to deal with eric and jake and their mom, who want to preserve democracy and abide by the rules of the constitution, even during this emergency situation. i think thats going to be the real conflict in the show - the rebuilding of society where the normal rules dont apply - you have to make your own, and what are they going to be?

Hawkins works for the US goverment, in some capacity, I'm guessing he is some type of spy or agent. I read (I think in TVGuide, but I could be wrong) that we will find out about Hawkins either next week or the week after.
I loved the scene last night between Hawkins & his daughter, when he found out his wife had a boyfriend while he was away for years. Just a marvelous scene.
I don't think Jake is a traitor, though from what Hawkins found on his computer, he probably does.
I don't trust Gray at all. Too bloody shady.

I disagree with the other posters. I think Hawkins is actually a terrorist, because in last nights show the guy that came back said that in New York they caught terrorists with a big steel drum and a van. What does Hawkins have...a big steel drum and a van.
I think Jake is the one who works for the government and Hawkins is the spy.
My other therory is that Hawkins does work for some branch of the government and that the brach is trying to overthrow the president by destroying big cities and then taking over.

I think that Hawkins worked for CIA or some homeland security group. He and others knew what was coming but could not stop it.I think they have spread out over USA to not only survive themselves but to help others.Just my opinion at the moment.I think that Jake is a good guy that has been in some trouble but he also seems to know alot about what to do so maybe he was government to.

I think the guy that came back was the traitor and believing what he told them is a BIG error. I am Most impressed with the way the land resembles western Kansas...the town NOT! No small town in western Kansas (or probably anywhere)that has only One medical facility has alleys and BIG fancy homes in subdivisions--trailers in subdivisions yes; houses, not! And where in the world are the Latinos? Latinos have been in Kansas for generations working the crops and the railroads and the oilfields... Excuse me, but let us have some real with our madeup reality...AND I cannot believe we saw rockets going up(presumably from missle silos) and NO ONE has mentioned it in the show...

so far we've established hawkings was a spy im guessing for the us why he didnt say anything we dont know yet, as for jake being the traitor I dont think so because jake came back for money not to help his family and also i think hawkings would know him because in the episode with the guy who died because of the radioactive rain he said you know him, by then hawkings had just met him and didnt know jake well, plus there is that photo of hawkings with his buds. And i think its killing everyone to know lol
