45 heads is 150 feet. X is birds, Y is beasts; X + Y must equal 45 (45 total beasts). Each bird has 2 legs, each beast has 4, so 2X + 4Y = 150.

If X + Y = 45, then 2X + 2Y = 90.

(2X + 4Y) - (2X - 2Y) = 60, so 2Y = 60. Thus Y = 30. If Y = 30, and X + Y = 45, then X = 45 - Y = 45 - 30 = 15.

Therefore there are 30 beasts (120 legs) and 15 birds (30 legs) for a total of 150 legs.

this is algebra 2 unknown so you need 2 equations to solve
if X is #birds, and y is # beasts

X + Y = 45
2X +4Y = 150

the rest you should be able to solve by yourself

30 beasts. 15 birds.

And I feel very sorry for anyone who couldn't do that in their head.

the two the help we desire isn't justified so we sense it complicated to ask for. whilst we are actually unable to have some subject we desire or desire it is the proper time to ask some one for help. thank you.
