Tony Blair will earn a fortune on the United States lecture circuit and from selling his memoirs. Publishers pay second tier politicians ridiculous amounts for their recollections, but I imagine you will want to read Blair's!
Blair's future might or might not be affected by current police investigations concerning political funding. One cannot say much about this while the investigations are in progress.
All British Prime Ministers since Irish terrorism became a problem in 1969 have required bodyguards after leaving office. The Irish question may have been to a considerable extent resolved but there are obvious other reasons why Blair will need such protection. Being shadowed the whole time, however much it is in one's own interest, is not my idea of a charmed life.
P.S. Marizani. Margaret Thatcher's life is not that happy. Apart from having lost a husband to whom she was devoted, her son's activities in Africa and their consequences must be painful for her. Whatever one thinks of Blair, let us hope his retirement is not blighted by such family griefs or come to that, by illness (there have been some press speculations that he may have health issues).

He will need a pretty powerful charm to allow him to live with himself after his tenure in office and the tragic results of what he has done. One wonders what his children think of him. He'll end up a sad old man. Already he looks so. And the beginning was so hopeful. No charm is strong enough.

Can you see any Prime Minister living in a three bedroomed council house with downstairs loo on a typical housing estate after leaving office?

Of course he will he's a politician and anything to do with mendacity is second nature to him. He'll write his selective memoirs and loads of people with more money than sense will buy them.
