Change always comes slowly but you absolutely always have to vote. If you dont, you have no right to complain.

Voting is NOT a waste of time. It is a civic responsibility and you can make a difference by becoming involved in the process. If you can talk someone else into voting who wasnt going to vote and they asked one, and so one, you can change the entire outcome. They may say one thing campaigning, but then its your resposinbility to question them, it is expected. They all have events in each communities during the months to answer questions from you......10 minutes out of your day to simply vote is what people fought for when this country was founded.

Voting is never a waste of time, voting should be at the heart of our democratic processes and it is a civic duty. Sometimes voting may not seem adequate, at which point you might consider more direct action, but never give up voting.
If the politicians you elect betray you once in power, don't vote for them again. Demand higher standards through the ballot box and through whatever other avenues you deem appropriate.

Unfortunately, most politicians do end up doing what they want regardless.
The problem with not voting though is that you take away your chance of getting someone that may actually end up being "by the people and for the people."
It is the right granted to you as a United States citizen, and you should honor that right.
How can you expect change if you aren't willing to vote for it?

No. Because you should vote for someone with similar views as you because many bills, votes, committees, etc. come up and are not widely discussed that will be handled by the people you vote for behind closed doors.
If you don't want a hawk for assistant secretary of defense, you shouldn't vote for a hawk to go to congress because they won't put up a fight when the guy comes up for confirmation.
If you are an environmentalist, vote for a green candidate so when a bill allowing development in national forests comes up, it dies in committee.
Yes Corporations and Lobbyist corrupt the system somewhat but there are plenty of lower profile items that they will vote their conscience on and you want someone in line with your views doing the voting on your behalf.

You need to vote for people who are the most honest. Vote for the best candidate. Voting is not a waste of time - it is our only chance to have a direct say in our government.
The only one who can silence your voice is you, when you do not vote.

Not really. If a party/politician does no fulfil their promises....then vote for anothet party/politician at the next election and get them out of office. Unfortunately people are too stupid to look and analyse this...and end up being a supporter of one party. If u behave like sheep u deserve to be led by unprincipled politicians!!

It is a waste of your time, but it gives the people a sense of control about what party is voted in and what the government does, and some even think the people can control the government because they work for you the tax payer.

if you dont feel like you want to vote for anyone then you should at least go and spoil your paper. if you go and get a voting slip then put a line through it all so you dont choose anyone. spoiled votes are still counted so this will show the government and others just how many people are dejected by politics

The object of the game is to vote for somebody who doesn't lie. That's why I'm voting for incumbent Senator Jim Talent and Congressman Todd Akin in Missouri.

If you think everything is fine and dandy the vote labour, but if not vote conservative its that simple. Unless you chavs/underclass or got stacks of money dont vote lib dem as they will tax the hell out of you for feelgood stuff. Just look at all the liberal councils that are in debt having to rack up council tax.
