It depends on what kind of pain it is. If its a cut or scrap naturally put some peroxide on it and bandage it up. If you have shin splints. (which I get as well sometimes from running, youll know you have them if you have pain right around where you talking about and it feels like its in the bone)--Heres the trick. Ice it, a lot. Take dixie cups, put some water in them, freeze them, peel back the paper, and rub that ice on you leg until it melts. It gets awful cold but it will stop that pain! GL HF.

This could be shin splints. I had them as a teenager and let it go and it turned into stress fractures. If you are consistently having pain in your shin and the side of your ankle, you should see a doctor to have it checked out. You may have to wear a shin splint for a while. In the mean time, put something like theragesic or icy hot on it. Or, you can put a heating pad, or ice on it. But, don't use the icy hot and the heating pad at the same time!!

Did you injure it?
Do you wear shoes with good arch support?
FInd the CAUSE and then you can deal with the CURE.
One of the best ways to comfort this type of pain, is hot and cold therapy. It rushes the blood in and out of the area.
Use a heating pad or moist hot cloth for about 15 minutes, then switch to cold. A frozen bag of peas will work. Put a single layer towel between the leg and frozen bag. Do this for 15 minutes.
You can alternate a couple times.
If I do this at least twice a day, I get relief and sometimes healed in a few days.

Could be shin splints.
Yahoo has q&a about them which says-
"As it turns out, shin splints are defined as "pain in the front of the lower legs caused by strenuous exercise, usually after a period of relative inactivity." Ouch. Not fun, but happily they're not too serious, either. Treatment includes rest, ice, over-the-counter pain medicine, and not running for several weeks."

Sounds like it could be shin splints cause by walking/running on concrete. Try asprin, if no allergy, and ice for 20mins 3 times per day and rest it.
If this does not improve in a few days see a doctor.

Wet a towel with some hot water(as hot as you can stand)and wrap it around
your shin. When the towel cools down just stick it in the microwave for a minute or so.Be careful not to burn yourself.Wrap it again.Do this for 20 minutes once an hour.
