You can buy 800mb CD-r ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/TDK-90min-jewel-storage-media/dp/B0000YHFCC ), they cost more than the standard 700mb one's, but still cheaper than DVD+-r's.

Answers to your questions:

Question 1: Standard is 700mb's (but you can get up to 800mb's)
Question 2: No, see above you can get 800mb one's
Question 3: It depends what size you decide to buy (700mb-800mb)

Additonal info: Another way to increase the amount of data on a disc is to compress the files via a zip utility (a free one is zipgenuis, or use windows built in one). This reduces the amount of space the files need. For example you have 1gb of data, by compressing (zipping) certain files you can "condense" the files into a smaller space, then burn them onto the CD, so you'll have the equivalant of 1gb worth of data zipped to take approx 700mb of disc space. Please note that certain files can't be compress and other types of files can be compress up to 90% (approx).

Hope this helps.

Hi You probably have a CD writer / DVD Rom combo drive on your Pc which will allow you to read both CDs and DVDs, but will only allow you to write to CDs. A CD has a maximum storage capacity of 700MB, so the quick answer to you question is to upgrade to a DVD writer and then you can write 4.7GB to a standard DVD. Good luck

Everything you want to know about CDs

Capacity

A standard 120 mm CD-ROM holds 650 or 700 MiB of data. To put this storage capacity into context, the average novel contains 60,000 words. Assume that average word length is 10 letters and that each letter occupies one byte. A novel therefore might occupy 600,000 bytes (600 kB, without layout information). One CD can therefore contain over 1,000 novels. If each novel occupies at least one centimetre of bookshelf space, then one CD can contain the equivalent of over ten metres of bookshelf. However textual data can be compressed by more than a factor of ten, using compression algorithms, so a CD-ROM can accommodate at least 100 metres of bookshelf space.

In comparison a DVD typically may contain at least 4.4 GiB of data, nearly 7 times the amount of a CD-ROM.

Reading the booklet instead of watching the movie is the ultimate way to see what the writer intended. Reading uses your thoughts, hones your reading skills, and can better your vocabulary
