beginning of my assignments, but as time goes on and nears the end of them, I get more and more shy. This happens everywhere I go. Why is this?

I think as you go on you get to know more faces and so when those familiar faces appear you get shy. It's easier to deal with strangers who don't know us and we don't know them. It's when we get to know someone that we get shy because we're worried what they will think of us. Stay confident, remember temps are always exciting!

Interesting observation. I have worked as a temp and now as a substitute. I'd say when you start you are confident in your abilities and the newness is interesting. However, you are a temp and you are not going to be there permanently. You know this going in and you do not want to make bonds with others because you know you will not be seeing them again. Your shyness keeps others at a distance.

I guess when you're beginning your assignments, you need to focus on the task in hand, which you're pretty comfortable with and therefore confident. Over time, your focus shifts to looking ahead - sounds like your situation is a little uncertain, and that affects your work. Is it that you want a permanent job and can't get it, or your circumstances won't allow it? Sounds like having one might make you happier :-)

Probably because you see the regular folk, the permanent employees, know somewhat more than you do. Stay confident in what you know. Learn from the other folks. You might just get an offer of permanent employment! Good luck.

Arrh, i recognise this.

You are good at your job, and as time goes by it becomes second nature. so you start to worry if you're missing something or if the bosses will find out you've got a simple job. But thats not the case, you're good at your job so YOU think its simple, most other people are glad to pay for your skills. you retreat into shyness in fear of being "found out"

To fix it, you need to beleive you are valuable.

I also work as a Temp, maybe its because you know that
your assignment is about to end and you don't want it to.
