If you have nothing to hide, how would you feel about 24/7 monitoring of your every room at home?

Everyone has something to hide !

Hate it! Welcome to 1984. It's probably only gonna get worse; Americans have adopted a sheep mentality and lets the government walk all over them.

I am all for it. I hope they put more up everywhere. Seems no one is safe anymore, and if you are a law abiding citizen, then you shouldn`t have to worry about it. I am for the cameras in the mall parking lots, and at the intersections of the streets. We have far too many people who run red lights only to end up killing an innocent driver and passengers. Since this has started in Houston, the amount of people not stopping for a red light has greatly decreased since you are sent an automatic ticket. Some crimes have been solved where store clerks and customers were killed by robbers. Cameras have help catch robbers at the ATMs.There have been arrests of persons who have shop lifted. A horrific child abduction that ended in murder of the child was solved because of a surveillence camera at a car wash. We aren`t the only country who is doing this. England had already started this before us. Even if this does not stop the person/s from committing the crime, at least they will more than likely be caught and prosecuted.

It is reported that 20% of all CCTV operated in the world are sited in Gt Britain. Certainly in London they were originally used to help monitor areas when the IRA were bombing the mainland. Those cameras and many others are being operated extensively in London and throughout the country in an effort to help guard all honest citizens against criminals and even more importantly terrorists.
In theory if you have nothing to hide what does it matter? Speed cameras can be annoying if they are not sited fairly but that is a small price to pay for all our safety. I and most of us have genuine respect for the Law of our Lands and I really believe our personal privacy is respected.
If we are honest, what have we got to hide?

Well it's been shown that cameras have caught criminals who would otherwise get away with murder, rape and other crimes.
Like the guy on video who took a 12 year old and killed her.
He was seen by a camera and the video was shown on national
television. I feel like that since I won't do anything wrong I could
care less about being under surveillance. I have cameras in my home so I know what is going on around me. The only people
who would worry about cameras are the ones who would commit
a crime. If you hate being watched I advise you to stay in your home and order in for your food,clothing,etc...

I'm less worried about cameras - its unlikely that a camera is going to lead to your rights being infringed, provided its in a public place and you're not doing anything wrong :-)

I'd be more worried about ID Tracking, personal details etc being held centrally by organisations and government. Long term, that's the real scary one, and really will infringe on everyday life, as things like credit records do already (thanks Experian). Hopefully, as they've been dum enough to centralise things to such a degree that it breaks down and someone with a brain shuts it off or comes up with a more redundant secure way of holding/using our info.

For every 1 criminal the cameras deter you deter 200 law abiding citizens, with your mobile on, your location is known, every time you use a shop card /Credit card, electronic travel card(Oyster) a detailed picture of your life can be built up. We've gone far to far down the road of electronic surveillance. And with RFID tags coming into play it's going to get worse.

Hm mm I am all for it.

I like the idea that when i am out and about at night that there is a watch full eye over me. also i be live that if you have nothing to hide then why worry about them. Its not as if they are locking in your home and listening to you talking.

I would love to be in a world where it is safe to walk the streets and not have to worry about idiots trying to rob you or stuff but this is the world we live in and if they can help put a stop to crime and i or my family can safely go about there business with out the fear of violence or crime then i am all for it.

No. We are losing our freedoms. There is a book with that title. I believe the average American is on film at least 10 times a day, unaware of it.
