How long did they allow the wound to heal up before removing the stitches? My friend had hers removed after 3 days, I think that was too soon, the wound is not healing up.

My c section was from the belly button to the pubic bone [the baby was twisted in the womb] and I had 14 metal clips. The first 7 [every other one] came out after 5 days and the last 7 after 9 days. 3 days IS far too soon, not surprised its not healing. The midwife came round every day for a week to check my scar to make sure it was healing properly, is your friends midwife or health visitor doing the same? If not, get her to the doctor before it gets infected. That is not a nice thing to happen.

I had a ceasar and my stitches were in for 7 days or more as they were dissolving and these are the best you should ask for them there easier and I cant believe they removed them after three days the wound wouldn't have even started to close and if you think of it this way then a c section is major abdominal surgery and I definitely wouldn't want mine removed after this short period of time

I had staples and they were removed after 3 days. They said my wound was healing just fine. One staple actually got stuck and it took 3 doctors to get it out- VERY painful! Anyways, if the doctor's said it was okay, then it should be- they are good at knowing those kinds of things.

I had staples, they were removed about 7 days after, but I had the option to have them removed at 4 days.
How long has your friend had them removed? Is she home? There are supportive stomach wraps (like an ace bandage), she should not get up too much or walk up and down steps frequently for about 2 weeks.
Her stomach will be sore for a while and it helps if she doesnt strain herself too much. If she thinks there is a problem she should see her Dr.

They removed my stitches right before I got discharged from the hospital on day 4. They put those tape strips on and I removed them 10 days after. If her incision is not healing properly she should have it checked out.

I had surgical staples with both of my c-sections and I too had them removed after 3 days (the day I left the hospital) and I healed just fine. If hers isn't there may be an infection and it should be looked at ASAP to prevent further complications or worse yet, her incision could burst and she would need surgery.

It was nearly 4 years ago so my memory may be blurred, but I think it was over a week. 3 days seems extremely early! Tell your friend to get in touch with her midwife or health visitor if she's concerned - a section is enough to get over without having a wound that's not healing properly.

More often these days dis-solvable stitches are used, this can take up to six weeks to completely dissolve. Ask your midwife what kind you have. If they do need to be removed it is usually after five days providing the scar is healing nicely. Does your friend have any weeping or oozing from her scar, does it look red around the edge (more than just the cut itself) if so she should contact her midwife who will be able to advise her.

I did not have stitches on the outside but staples that were removed after 3 days.. They may have used derma bond on hers as well and that's why they removed them so soon. They use stitches on the inside that automatically disolve after time.

Oh wow stitches I am not sure of they stapled me shut because the stitches they use I am allergic to found out after a couple other surgeries I had. YES 3 days is way to early to be taking them out ask her to go and see another doctor right away please. They waited 7 days with mine before they took the staples out.
