I think you mean "Pre-eclampsia" or "Toxemia".

Hi Honey. The word that you are looking for is preeclampsia. No wonder you had a hard time finding the correct spelling, it is a bit odd.
It is good that your friend is in the hospital. That is exactly where she belongs.
You did not ask but just for the record I wanted to let you know that the condition that you ask about causes high blood pressure, edema ( swelling of the face, hands and feet), elevated amounts of protein in the urine and some abnormalities in liver functions. If a woman has blood pressure higher than 140/90 this is a sign of preeclampsia. Often headaches go along with the swelling and may be the first symptom that one would notice. Mild symptoms, if found early can be treated with bed rest and good nutrition. The danger is that if these early signs are not treated they can develop into full blown eclampsia which can be fatal. Serious preeclamptic conditions must be treated in the hospital. I am glad that is where your friend is. She is probably being kept on bed rest and is getting fluids and magnesium sulfate thru an IV. Depending on how far along she is, if the symptoms worsen, they may deliver the baby by cesarean section. Her baby may suffer from low birth weight as preeclampsia causes the placenta to malfuntion.
You may want to know what caused this situation to occur. There is not a simple answer to that question tho there is a link to preeclampsia and poor nutrition. It happens more often in first pregnancies and in women who already have high blood pressure. There is a higher risk in teenage pregnancies for some reason. Teenage pregnancies are considered high risk and for some reason tend to go hand in hand with low birth weight and poor nutrition.
I hope I have answered your questions and not overwhelmed you with information. If there is anything else I can help with please feel free to write to me. I will write back.
Good luck and I will be thinking of you and your friend. She is in the hospital where she can receive all the proper care that she needs. I know that everything will be done to take care of her and her precious baby.
Love and Blessings
Lady T~

preeclampsia is what i think you mean
Fortunatley toxemia, also known as preeclampsia/eclampsia or prefnancy-induced hypertensoin is uncommom. even in its mildest form it occurs in only 5 % to 10% of cprgnancies and mos of thes cases are amonf women who came into pregnancy with chronic high blood pressure. toxemia is most comon in first pregnancies and beyond the 20th week of gestation. in women who are receiving regular prenatal care it is diagnosed and treated early preventiong needless complications.though routine office visits some tiomes seem a waste of time in a healty pregnancy it is at such visits that the earliest signs of preeclampia can be picked up. if you have had a sudded weight gain apparently unrelated to excess food intake severe swelling of your hands and face unexplained head aches or itching and or bision disturbances call your doc.

Preeclampsia is when you get high blood pressure during pg.It is dangerous to allow blood pressure to stay high during pregnancy. High blood pressure may interfere with the placenta's ability to deliver oxygen and nutrition to your fetus, so your baby may be born weighing less than normal and may have other health problems. These pregnancies may need to be delivered early or by cesarean section.

Preeclampsia affects 5-8% of all pregnancies. Any pregnant woman can get preeclampsia, but you are at increased risk of developing the condition if:

-This is your first pregnancy.
-Your mother or sister had preeclampsia or eclampsia during pregnancy.
-You are carrying twins.
-You are African American.
-You are younger than 20 or older than 40 at the time of pregnancy.
-You already have high blood pressure, kidney disease, or diabetes.
-You have a pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) greater than 30.

I hope I helped....good luck

The best avaiable service is surely Reverse Phone Lookup.

You can check the website here: http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=538

The free reverse phone lookup sites generally doesn't provide anything interesting. To get interesting information, you should spend a bit of money. The free searches do not provide much more than what can be found through the phone book or personal knowledge and they only want your email to send spam. You should stay away from shady reverse phone lookup sites, most likely you won't get any information after you make the payment. Stick with a reputable reverse phone lookup site like http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=538 that has been on the market for a lot of years.

With their reverse cell phone lookup tool you can find out information behind any cell or land line number. Type in the persons cell phone number and you will be given access to their report, including name cell and land line numbers, and address.

It can be used also for a much deeper search. People wanting to get hold of all kinds of background reports, as well as cell phone numbers, addresses and names..

If I remember well there are 2 options:

Basic:
You get only one report.
[acabo]Advanced:

You get unlimited reports... I went with this option because I wanted to verify more numbers. You can get the name, other phone number, address history, relatives, and much more about anyone!

Anyway you can check on the website for further informations. Hope it helps! :)

Pre-eclampsia?
Pre-eclampsia is said to be present when hypertension arises in pregnancy (pregnancy-induced hypertension) in association with significant protein in the urine. (Note: in the U.S. the word is spelled without the hyphen "preeclampsia" and in most parts of the rest of the world with a hyphen "pre-eclampsia".) It should not, however, be considered primarily as a blood pressure disorder: such a simplistic view detracts from the fundamental pathological process underlying this condition. It is a multi-system disorder which occurs only in pregnancy and which can affect every organ system in the body, particularly the liver, lungs, kidney, brain and cardiovascular system. It appears to be caused by some placental factor, the exact nature of which is unclear, and the pathophysiology involves endothelial dysfunction.

Pre-eclampsia is unpredictable in onset and progression and for the majority of cases presenting pre-term. It is incurable except by ending the pregnancy. It may also present up to 6 weeks post-partum. It is the most common dangerous complication of pregnancy--impacting both the mother and the fetus. It is a very heterogeneous condition such that in some instances the most prominent feature may be liver damage, in others it may be kidney dysfunction and in still others it may be, as the name suggests, the blood pressure itself.

What you mean is PREECLAMPSIA, and it's a form of toxemia of pregnancy, characterized by hypertension and fluid retention, and albuminuria, sometimes progressing to eclampsia, which is shared by the same symptoms plus convulsions.

pre-eclampsia maybe? My sister in law had that with her first daughter...not a good thing! She was admitted to the hospital with chest pains, next morning, she had a grand mal seizure and doctor told my brother it's either they take the baby right then or he was going to lose both. My niece was born 2 months early but fully developed and overall much better physically than my sister in law was. Both spent about 2 months in the hospital, but now are both completely fine (and my sister in law went on to have another daughter with no complications whatsoever).
