Do they need sunlight, air, nitrogen, or anything else? What is the optimum temperature for their survival? Would it be possible for them to live in an exhaust pipe of a car?

Micrococcus is an aerobic bacteria isolated from human skin, animal and dairy products, and beer which can grow well in environments with little water or high salt concentrations. They grow optimally at 37°C and can be easily grown on inorganic nitrogen agar or Simmon's citrate agar. Although some, like Micrococcus antarcticus, are cold-adapted, and have been found living in Antarctica and in marine environments. It does not need sunlight as it affects its growth though there are various micrococcus which are resistant to sunlight or even ultraviolet rays.

It has been said that the Micrococcus catalases are suppressed at the temperature of 70°C thus temperature of 70°C and above will affect its survival. Exhaust pipe of a car I believe is more than 70°C thus making the Micrococci impossible to live.♥

Any of the spherical bacteria that make up the genus Micrococcus. Widespread in nature, these gram-positive (see gram stain) cocci (see coccus) are usually not considered to cause disease. They are normal inhabitants of the human body and may even be essential in keeping the balance among the various microorganisms found on the skin. Some species are found in the dust of the air, in soil, in marine waters, and on the skin of vertebrates. Certain species are found in milk and can result in spoilage.
