Yes, men and women have the same number of ribs.
Let's ask the question: if you were injured in a car wreck and you lost a leg, would your children after that point be born with only one leg? Of course not! This is not a heritable change, it did not change the genetic makeup in any way.
So, even if the biblical story is literally true and God did take a rib from Adam for the raw material for Eve if you will (and assuming Eve was made in the same image), their children would have a full complement of ribs as well as everything else. If God can make a whole person from just one rib, why would He short women a rib anyway? Didn't he already have the template created how He wanted people?
Incidentally, I have read where some translators say that the passage is more correctly translated as Adam's "side" instead of his "rib". More like Adam was split in mirror images.

I think a little flexibility of thought is in order. First off the Bible never says how many ribs Adam had BEFORE donating one. Perhaps he had 13 (current medicine recognizes that some people are born with an extra or "accessory" rib). After the donation he would have had twelve. Then God, in his wisdom, used the rib to create a woman who would share an equal amount with her husband, so that she would have 12 also.
Now, for a little editorial. I am in a minority of people who believe in both creation and evolution (which is theoretically possible if you dont take a literal interpretation of the Bible). All this bickering is really childish. In any event, it is still possible that Adam donated a rib along the lines of the above rationale and it would be entirely consistent with the creation story, evolution, and current medical knowledge.

Possible Scientific Answers:
Adam and Eve are at most allegory.. not actual fact...
Floating ribs are regenerative.
Humans came from evolution not Adam and Eve.
Possible Religious Answers:

The word "rib" used in the bible is a mistranslation and should read as side. Some believe that God split Adam (before an asexual being) into Adam and Eve making them two halves of a whole.

It could be that Adam had an extra rib to start with. Another meaning of the word that has been translated to mean rib is 'half'... just a thought but the Bible also says that when man and woman marry the 2 become one. So... the two halfs become one. (simple maths)

Because the story is a myth, not biology!
There are two arguements to take here: If it just a myth, and none of it happened, then you can just ignore the biological inaccuracies, and enjoy it as a story!
If it is not just a myth, and there is an all powerful God who made everything, then He can do anything, so there doesn't need to be a 'reasonable' answers. If God does exist, he's much cleverer than us, and we shouldn't try to work it all out!
So, it's either just a story, or a being much more powerful than us did it, so just go with it either way!

Traditionally we say God took a rib BUT I think it's actually He took a piece of Adam's side!
Anyway even if it was a rib - God would have given Adam another - surely! He's God!

Because it's a fairy story.
Joke: God said to Adam, i'm going to make you a woman, she will cook for you, clean for you, look after you, give you children and obey your every command.
Adam says to God: and what will that cost me? An arm and a leg, says God. Says Adam: What can I get for a rib???????

I was always taught that there is a difference in the number of ribs between the 2 sexes where men have one more than women.
