I haven't watched Boston Legal in ages, for the very reason you note. I have no idea how one gets in touch with the writers and producers, but if they don't have a clue yet, they might not even read input from a former viewer.

It's kind of hard to appreciate Boston Legal the way it is now because it is so much different than the way it was the first season. In the the first season, the show was more serious and all of the cases were real life situations ripped from the news headlines. But you have to remember that it is a spin off of "The Practice" which was a very serious show so they had to keep that concept to keep the fans watching. Now since it has a pretty good following, the show has went off on it's own and ventured away from that stiff, cut throat lawyer show and made lawyers hilarious to watch. I love the show!!! James Spader and William Shatner have me lmao all the time!

No

and you can't.

The truth is that surveys show that what they are doing is boosting the ratings.

People are tuning in to see who will come on the show next.

Boston Legal goes opposite Nip/Tuck in most markets and to beat the competition both shows have resorted to cameo appearances and guest shots that force you to watch two or three shows to learn how it ends.

As for "Hands", his character won an emmy so they had to write him back into the show.

The sexual banter is what is selling the show not the court cases. But, be assured that David E. Kelley will produce some interesting cases before the season is over. The first couple of weeks are dedicated to introducing the new regulars like they have to do year after year. This is the fourth set of lawyers they have had on the show since it started.

I'm actually liking the way it's going now, with the continuation of some plot lines from week to week, rather than getting all the cases resolved in full each week. One of my favorite shows in the past was David E. Kelly's "Picket Fences", and it's good to see the same sort of ethical questions raised on "Boston Legal" too. For an example, last night's case where "Hands" perjured himself on the death penalty issue. Was the jury nullification right or wrong? That's what raises food for thought, and I like that. Anyway, bottom line is that "Boston Legal" is my favorite network show at this point, and I hope it rolls on for years.

I think it is every bit as good as it has been. Adding Craig Bierko and Constance Zinmer to an already-good cast has been a boon. Shatner, Spader, Bergen - what's not to like?
