when i leave my computer idle connectet to the internet and i am downloading files thru azureus after a hour my comuter does not respond and i can see the computer turned on and the red light flashing showing its busy...but never responds...the only option i have is to turn it off...why is this???how can i solve it???

mennogirl might be right
however, I suspect, along the way as you download files it might be still "reconnecting to the host site" as often happened when a large file is downloaded...this is far fetch but sometimes virus and trojans are everywhere...just keep your pc protected and be wise in downloading files

Usually this is an indication of sleep mode or hibernation.

You can disable these features in the power options of the control panel. Goto the Hibernate tab and deselect the "enable hibernation" check box.

Additionally you can disable system standby under the "Power Schemas" tab at the bottom of the screen. Choose the drop down box "System standby" and set it to "Never"

sleep and hibernate do not work on some computers you need to turn these options off in your system options if you dont know how this site has a guide to doing ithttp://bartman1.blogspot.com/

sounds like you have incorrect settings for your power saving. Go to control panel\display \screen saver & you will find a setting called monitor power. Click this & you will find the options to set the behavior. Good luck

you can hit ctrl and alt and delete at the same time and end the task. if that dont work then just restart the computer instead of turning it completely off

it probably hibernated...try setting the screen saver settings to "none" and see how that works out.
