If you shut any processes down in the Task Manager using the End Process button, it will only be shut down for the current log on session. The next time you reboot your PC the process will return.
Everybody has a substantial number of "Processes" running so don't be overly concerned about it but do a little research as to what those ".exe" files are asssociated with. If it is listed as "SYSTEM" in the User Name column I recommend you simply leave them alone. Be primarily concerned with the ones that list your computer logon name in the User Name column.
Write down the file names in question: e.g. ctfmon.exe
Now go to Start > Search > For Files And Folders > All Files And Folders then type in the full name of the file (ctfmon.exe) and see where it is located and what program it is associated with.
You can shut down programs that are starting up using the msconfig command.
Start > Run > msconfig
then go to the Startup tab and then simply click on the check box for any program you don't want booting when you boot the PC.
Be a little cautious about what you turn off but you'll probably find you can shut down a number of things. For example, if you have Acrobat Reader 7 on your PC, you'll find it in Start Up. I don't know why anyone needs the Reader running in the background all the time so it should be shut down (IMHO).
Along with this cleaning the "Start Up" menu activity, you should make sure you defrag your Hard Drive at least once a week if you use your computer a lot.
Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > defrag
Run this utility to clean up the fragmented files on your HD. It will take a few hours depending on the size of your HD. A good way is to launch defrag and then go away for a few hours or let it run overnight.
A real good program for keeping your HD defragged automatically is Diskeeper. It's $30 but worth every penny. Check it out at http://www.download.com
Read the software publishers description, the tech reviews, and the User reviews. I've had it for 6 months now and I'm really happy with it. Compared to the MS defrag utility this program runs very fast and after the initial defrag it takes only minutes to clean up your HD.
Hope this all helps. Good luck!

Just take some baking soda, mix it with a very small amount of vinegar to make a paste, and then put it on the carpet with an old toothbrush. Allow it to dry, then vacuum. If the stain is somewhat removed or lightened up, repeat again. Or small amount of Swarfega or WD-40. Worth testing a very small amount of these things to see what works best. Have also heard of the brown paper and iron method.

you can stop a process from task manager but you can't remove them from this location. you can see that many of these processes are programs you installed on your PC if you can recognize them you can stop them, but don't stop system applications and don't stop the antivirus that you use.
And if you want to remove them go to " run" and type " msconfig"
then press enter. then select " start up" and you can select or deselect the program you want to remove.

You can shut down the unimportant ones.
"But which are the unimportant ones?" I hear you ask.
Oh that's Ok I will now guess which of the millions of possible processes are the 61 appearing on your machine. It will take me a couple of minutes though.
In the meantime, can you please tell me how long this piece of string I am holding is?

doing this ^ can result in a problem.please allow me to help. image names not to end in task manager, svchost x6, winlogon, lsass, services, csrss, smss, system, system idle process, alg, explorer. to shut down all others you can press ctrl + alt + delete, go to processes tab, click the one you want to eliminate and then click end process at bottom right. if you use spybot you can completely disable almost all useless programs from starting with windows
