Well, there are several things to take into mind. One, if anything were to happen to Bush, Cheney would become president. Second, if anything were to happen to Bush NOW, Cheney would not be considered running a full term, and thus would be eligible to run for the full 8 years, granted someone'd re-elect him, let alone elect him in the first place. Third, Liberals and Conservatives would be ten times as vicious towards each other, one side glad that Bush is no longer in control, the other accusing a Liberal of being the assassin.
In short, I'd be shocked and (possibly) terrified.

Judging by the many juvenile and cruel answers here, I'd guess none of these respondents remember how the nation reacted at Kennedy's assassination.
For or against him, everyone was shocked; many people... some of them Republicans!... openly wept.
43 years ago this month, people knew an evil action when they saw it. It seems now there are some who would celebrate one.

I would be suprised to see that. I never lived to see a president assassinated or died in office.
plus it would be strange to have Dick Cheney as president.
I bet lots of Americans would be happy though. Most people I know don't like Bush.

It would be a terrible thing, unless Cheney and Rumsfeld were also assassinated at the same time, along with the rest of the Bush cabinet and most members of the U.S. Congress.

Bush is responsible for the deaths of 655,000 Iraqis and almost 3,000 U.S. soldiers. He deserves to die. However, I believe assassination would be too quick and easy. Bush and all the members of the most incompetent, contemptible, cowardly, arrogant, corrupt Congress in U.S. history should be tried in an international tribunal for crimes against humanity. If convicted, they should all face a public firing squad. Those who aren't convicted should then face a U.S. court, and be tried for high treason against the United States of America and its people. If convicted, they should then face a public firing squad.
These are not "honorable" men and women running our government. They are evil, wicked, corrupt, selfish, greedy sub-humans who have no regard at all for the constituency they're supposed to serve. Kill them all - not just one! -RKO-

I would grieve for his wife and children. I want the war to end and I want him out of office and I never voted for him anyway all because I'm the kind of person who doesn't like when someone's life is taken away over disputes. Whether I think he's a douche bag or not, he shouldn't be murdered.

I would feel bad for that person and their family if ANYONE was murdered! I know some people don't like him, but if he was assassinated, will we do better with Cheney? I've learned that the grass is not always greener on the other side!

I think lots of people world-wide your be happy if he wasn't president, him and his cronies have their fingers in too many pies!! Also, I think he's a puppet president. It's not him making the decisions, it's the people his father set up with him to 'help him', so therefore he doens't deserve to die, but someone who cannot pronounce very simple words (like nuclear) properly, shouldn't be in charge. I think also USA would benefit from a televised media that also reported important world wide events.

I'd be alarmed because the first thing President Cheney would do would be to declare "Martial Law" in this country and further restrict our civil rights...

Reading the answers to this question makes me sick to my stomach. It shows just how far the left would go to establish their position. Wishing the President dead is a loathsome thing. These same people talk about bringing our troops home to keep them safe—when they don’t give a hoot about our troops one way or the other. The neo-left makes me sick to my stomach.
Democrats wake up! Don’t let this monstrous group of extreme liberals take control of your Party.

With mixed feelings; both sadness for his family yet renewed hope for our country. As incompetent as he is (and I am a conservative Republican) he does not deserve to be assassinated.
