I've got a virus on my computer that hijacks me to bogus sites asking me to update bank info, verify ssn, etc. I've tried to remove it with Norton antivirus, MS defender, ad-aware, yahoo toolbar anti spyware, spybot search & destroy. None of these have been able to detect or remove the virus. One of my friends said that once the virus is embedded in the computer, these programs can't work. So now I'm stuck, I need to remove the virus. is there any software that works once the virus is on the computer?

The best programs that can rid of worms and torjan horses are these:

1. eset nod32 - go to eset.com and download a 30day trial. Then after installed go to 9down.com to find the free code.

2. avast 4.7 - free for home users. go to avast.com to register for a free 12 month serial # and then download and install.

3. Avira Antivir - go to free-av.com and download and install. You don't need to register the software. The install will automatically make a free serial # for you so the software can be automatically updated.

4. AOL launched a new service for all users (all it requires is any email address) called active-virus-shield. This new software is based on Kaspersky's software. go to activevirusshield.com and click on more information to learn more.

One thing to remember is that you cannot have 2 antivirus programs on your computer at the same time. Antispyware is ok though.

Another way you can rid of threats is using online scanners. One that I use (though there are others) is trend micros house call program at housecall.trendmicro.com. Go to the site and follow the instructions to complete the scan and removal process...

Hope this helps. Good luck and stay protected...

It sounds like you have a Mal Ware program on your computer. Last time i had one i went to geekstogo.com and they helped me out. What they do is ask you to download another program that will read all of the script on your computer then you copy and past it onto the thread that you started, they locate the Mal Ware program and tell you how to remove it. It is a free service but you can make a donation through pay pay to the person that helped you get your computer running properly.
Make sure you take your time and go through everything they tell you to do and double check your work before you remove the program, Good luck

Try Pc-cillin, and on that site is also a free scan using "house call" this has usually worked, otherwise, you may have to manually remove it, by tracing its path, if it is one that keeps renaming itself, then, what I have had to do in tha past is, totally reformat my system, and make sure you have a good antiviris scanner, no one should be without on, cause compared to the cost of a viris scanner, compared to the cost of buying a new system, they don't even compare. Also you may try google for free antiviris scans, there are several out there..........Good Luck

You can use spyware doctor, but it will cost you money to remove the infection. However if you could use it to scan your computer and identify the infection (scanning is free), helping you will be a lot easier.
