Convertinc celsius (Centigrade) to fahrenheit
c = 5/9(F - 32
9/5c = 9/5(5/9)(F - 32)
Multiplying both sides of the equation by 5/9 by its Reciprocal 9/5
9/5c = F - 32
9/5C + 32 = F - 32 + 32
Adding + 32 on both sides of the equation
9/5C + 32 = F - This is the Fahrenheit Formula
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Converting Fahrenheit formula to celsius(Centigrade)
F = 9/5C + 32
5/9F = 5/9(9/5) C + 32
Multiplying both sides of the equation 9/5 by its recoprocal 5/9
5/9 F = C + 32
5/9 F - 32 = C + 32 - 32
Subtracting - 32 from both sides of the equation
5/9 F - 32 = C- This is the Celsius(Centigrade) Formula

Farenheit= 9/5 * (Centigrade+32)
First take 32 on the other side (so - sign changes to +)
Now take the 5/9 on the other side (so the whole thing gets reversed)
And you get the answer.

9(C+40)=5(F+40)
You should easily be able to work this in either direction.
It is an interesting fact that -40C = -40F
