If you want to give them the benefit of the doubt, sometimes there's so much going on around you when you're riding that you may not see a rider across the way until it's too late or at all. However, there are those few unenlightened individuals that don't even know about the wave or the unfriendly ones who think the wave is "stupid".

Bikers tend to be the type of person that enjoys risks and most bikers tend to acknowledge more the fact that life is too damn short as it is. And I personally believe the wave was developed as a show of respect to and between like minded individuals. We're all out there because we enjoy the ride. Any yuppie can drive a car. Not everyone can ride a bike. I wave to every rider, no matter what they're riding (I ride a Ninja) and most of the time I get waves back.

I use to ride Jap bikes. I always waved at all bikers regardless if they were on a Jap bike or a Harley and always got a wave back. I am into Harleys now, but I still wave to all bikers regardless of brand. Most wave back but there are a few Harley riders that don't wave back, but I find more Jap bike riders that don't. There are some in every crowd. Just keep waving. Sooner or later you'll get a wave back and it 'll be worth it.

I think the harley riders who are trying to live up to an image or ego trip wont wave back. Some of the older fellas will, and some probably just dont see you concentrating on the road or whatever thay may be looking at. I dont nod to harley riders due to the gangs being so sensitive. I ride a yamaha yzf r1

More so in the past there was dissention between US and Asian bike riders. Even myself, while on my HOG, would only wave at non-Harleys, if I was waved at first. This thinking may have been a seniority thing. However, a seasoned rider now, I initiate waves to all riders.

I asked this question once to all bikers in general and have found that most bike riders will wave back ,but if they dont wave back I then I do 1 of 2 things 1) stand up on the pegs and blow a fart at them ..2) change my wave into the flip of the bird /...its that persons lost if they are so miserible that they cant wave back to another biker I feel pity on them

my husband and i don't ride a Harley but they wave to us all the time...as a matter of fact we recently went on a benefit run with harley riders and they treated us the same as they did other people that were on harleys. I have never seen them treat anyone any differently!!!!

I rip on harley guys alot, mostly because i get ripped on by them for riding a low buck ricer and being proud of it. But once we are on the road, we all respect each other. Its the individual riders who feel too superior because they paid more fo their bike, whatever brand it is, to want to wave back. Those who seem to wave the least are the super yuppies on their easter egg "choppers". They think that because they paid someone $50,000 to build them a bike like they saw on tv, that they are better than those of us who actually chop our own bikes. Long live rattlecan flat black!

I ride a Harley and I wave at every body when I see them in time. a lot of times I see them waving at me but they are already past me by the time I get my hand up.

I rode Yamaha's and Suzuki's for years and never had a problem.

I have a Harley and wave to all bikers. (I do realize that some Harley riders don't). A biker is a biker no matter what bike to me.
