You dont loose it, you break it. You can do it by horseback riding, gymastics, bike riding, stretching, inserting tampons... there's tonnes of things that can do it.

Most "virgins" do not have intact hymens....Why?

1. Tampons-While inserting tampons during their periods, most young women "break their hymen" tissues. Very common.

2. Masturbation-While using a finger or other penis-replacement object, the hymen is broken. Very common.

3. Doctor-Some young women have their hymen tissue broken during their first ever gynecological examination. Not so common.

Most of the time, you never know when it takes place exactly. The old stories about bleeding when the hymen is broken are pretty much fictional. There is generally so little bleeding that it is not noticeable.

You can lose them if you ride a bike alot or go horseback riding. Both these pull at the hymen and cause ti to gradually deterioate. I lost mine from horse back riding.

The older you get the less likely you are to have one. Because it does eventually go away. Most women by the age of 20 if they haven't broke their hymen some other way it just gradually disappears.

Usually through heavy athletic activity like gymnastics can cause this. I am not sure it they would go "oops, there went my Hymen", but there probably would be some pain and bleeding they may associate with an odd menstrual event.
