Various hypotheses place the most recent common ancestor anywhere from the paleolithic to the biblical era to the age of exploration.

By examining DNA elements that are only inherited from the mother, all humans may have descended from a woman who lived in Africa about 150,000 years ago (Mitochondrial Eve hypothesis).
The male lineage thaces back to one individual who lived between 60,000 and 90,000 years ago (Y-chromosomal Adam hypothesis),

Logically, it may seem necessarily so, but in fact evolution may have happened in a variety of fits and starts. It is not necessary to postulate a single Mother of us all in order to believe in evolution. However, it is also possible to say that yes, this particular branch of the proto-human's family tree came from a single couple. Whatever created the mix with them, if they had incestuous children, then we would be one branch. Otherwise, we need two branches. More likely, the combining and mixing which blended into modern man was a gradual process of weeding out recessive genes and non-survival traits. In fact, we are still doing that process today. Look at the old suits of armor in museums, and how small they seem next to our modern fighting men.

Personally, I believe in a proto Mother, but that's at the spiritual level and says nothing about the physical level.

Yes. It has to be. Logically, at least at the start. I simply do not understand, why various guys are fighting and killing in the name religion. Can they not understand this simple fact, whether we like it or not, we are all brothers, cousins, uncles, aunts, grandmas or grandpas at the root.
