when my boiler was fitted the flue was smaller that the original and the large hole was never filled in is this letting gas back into my house

When my landlord had by boiler fitted the gas man left a 4 inch hole all the way around the flue. Is this letting fumes back in the house my landlord says it is fine and not to worry.

Depends on what type of boiler. Most boilers have an air intake and exhasust combined into the flue (tube inside a tube). If its the air intake, it should be ok, but if its the exhaust, then you've got some serious serious problems. Either way, get it checked by a pro quickly.

If your boiler is power vent it can let fumes back inside. If it is gravity vent, it suck air up the flue. Either wayt it should be sealed. This is easy to do with chimney cement, it's premixed and available at home centers and plumbing supply stores.{If you want to check it, hold a match near the hole when the boiler is runnining and see which way the flame leans.}

it should be sealed if the wind is blowing onto that wall it could be blowing all the gasses into the room not to mention cold air if it is not woring making the room colder than it should be

lol it sure is, id get it cemented up,looks like you called in a non corgi guy to install your boiler
