It's only wrong if the person puts down people of their own race or the races to which they are unattracted. If your friend doesn't like Black men because she has a stereotype against them, then that's reason to think that she's a victim of self-hatred. Your mom probably feels that Blacks have come along way together and have come too far to be prejudice against one another.

I personally think this is the same as loving blonde guys/girls rather then brown. Or liking a special hair colour more then another. Honestly, in todays world, I don't think it is an issue loving a particular ethnicity more then another.
I could agree with your mom if the person you are talking about does not consider AT ALL other ethnicities as being interesting. But the fact that she prefers white to black or asian or others, is not something to worry about.
I am white and, for instance, feel attracted to mediterranean features (brown hair, olive skinned, not too tall). You might as well say that I am attracted to one particular ethnicity (in the white group). I don't see anything wrong in not finding blonde, pale skinned women :-)
Of course there is more to a person than the looks, but this is a whole different story.
Take care

Celtics - - - Irish , Isle of Mann , Scotts ,Welch . Ugrics - - - Hungarians , Finns , Estonians , Lapps , Samayoids. No, by no means is it wrong but my question to you is Do you love yourself. Or do you have A underlining hatred for your own. There are a lot of good men that come in all races and to not see that say that there maybe some form of underlining psychological problem, waiting to blow up in your face. I do hope that I am not correct. But most women can pick and choose without race interfering or confusing their judgment. Another thing to remember never put yourself into a postion to be used no matter what the race of the man is that you choose..................

I am a white guy that prefers darker chicks....nothing wrong with that...it is in your blood what attracts you. She doesn't hate black men (self hatred?) but she is attracted to white. If she only hired white men to work at her business then that would be wrong but to date is entirely up to you!!!!

No. It's not like she's despising them for being black, just not attracted. You can't blame a straight person for prefering the opposite gender and calling them homophobic for it, right?

I don't think you can do much about what you're really attracted to - you like what you like. It's when people restrict their dating by ethnicity to make a political statement that there's a problem.

No its not wrong, so long as that ethnicity is your own. I wouldn't go near women of color and only find white (non hispanic) women attractive.

I think it's wrong, since a personality is in each individual, not their ethnicity.. however, can't be helped, coz of prejudice and bias that is in the sub-conscious.
