Arteries are major vessels that carry blood away from the heart. Veins are major vessels that carry blood toward the heart. Blood pressure is less when carried toward the heart, therefore your answer is artery=larger. Most Arteries are larger than Veins as they carry oxygenated blood. So Renal artery is larger than Renal Vein.

Although arteries are almost always bigger than veins, the kidney is the exception, you are right, the renal vein is bigger than the renal artery.
