An umbrella for short trips, for watching a game of footy or when you are in one place for longer than 1/2 an hour in the rain, probably a poncho would be more convenient.
Anywhere you attend that is crowded, a poncho would be the best option as there is less invasion of personal space.

Umbrella for sure in Singapore. If I were to wear a ponchos and saw someone familiar, I would definitely hide myself at home for the rest of the month!! Dunno why, but it just feels awkward to be seen wearing one.
By having an umbrella, I can also shelter others without one when it's raining.. Especially if there's a hot dude around... Hehehe...
However, I love to see kids in ponchos. They simply look so adorable... *Squeeze Cheek*

My trusty telescoping umbrella. It folds down into a small neat package, and I don't have to deal with trying to cope with a huge wet poncho.
