Of course. A friend and I were just talking about that...how even the simple act of writing with an audience in mind is an action of conformity. We sell our perspective empathizing with their state...it's not so much an expression of ourself...but a sales pitch of our idea. Sugar coating if you will. Life is a sales pitch.
It's like that in almost every aspect of life.
Maybe it needs to be that way. I mean, do we want the guy who loves to drive 100 mph to do that on our subdivision street where children play? Do we want strangers to just come up and put us in a lip lock because they like the way we dressed? Some conformity of social norms is good. Chaos isn't good.
Maybe selling out is not so much selling out, but buying in...some conformity isn't that bad...as long as you have a clear sense of ethics....I mean lets stay away from the Third Reich conformity...but I am all for people brushing their teeth even if they hate the taste of tooth paste. That person needs to sell out on their need and open up the crest.

I think that there have been times in everyone's life where they have settled for something less than what they want or believe they deserve. I know I have.

We probably do, but for me it's not by choice. I am who I am, and that never changes.
