I am thinking of pursuing PhD in interdisciplinary subjects of management and Computer Sciecen. I need information of some good reputed universities that offer such a PhD and also offers it free or with a very nominal cost.
I am from India working as a Program Manager for a VOIP Startup and have a BEng Hons Degree in Comp Science.

I want to earn this PhD through a University of repute and I am not planning to become a Prof anyway. I am working in IT Industry and want to remain a Professional in R&D and Management in Industry not in Academics.

My interest in Phd is to undestand about teh IT Industry growth, its future, Venture capital, IT Startups, Role of India and other eveloping countries in IT how does this affect the global economy etc. How does these companies get acquired by giants etc.
And another criteria is that I am not willing to spend hundreds of $ on the PhD I am looking for nearly free course, as I have research experience as well and solid Management experience of 2 years at Program Manager Level and general IT experience of 5 years.
Looking for exact and clear answers.

No respectible university will offer a PhD on-line. It would be nearly impossible to get an academic job with an on-line degree.

The only good news for you is that most reputable PhD programs in business schools give financial aid to their PhD students in the form of fellowships, research assistantships and teaching assistantships.

At least 15 of the top 20 business schools are in the US.

The above submission is from an idiot who most likely does not have a degree. He is full of ****. I know a dean of a dept at a state university who got his PhD online. It can happen. Just remember that if your looking for a tier 1 associate professor position having an online PhD will not get you the position. But.... you can get associate positions with tier 2 or 3 schools (State level and lower private institutions). Your chances of working in reaserch are about nill, but the chance to work in academia is there. Just make sure if you use an online university that it is accredited on the regional or national level. Check out http://www.ncu.edu they have an business PhD and DBA program that is accredited that might fit what your looking for.
