At this time, even though I am a fellow Democrat (veteran), I am ashamed of John Kerry's comments. I can't believe he even has the thought that our troops in Iraq are not very smart in his mind. I understand that a lot of people feel the same way. But, he is a politician. He can't just voice his opinion in front of the whole nation.

Anyway, a lot of people are saying that people misinterpreted his comment. But, I don't think so. There are a lot of people who look at servicemembers as second-rate citizens. When Kerry made those comments, I think he was really showing his true colors.

I understand that his comments were used as an attack on Bush. However, I truly believed that he was being supercilious to the troops in Iraq.

People dont think our troops are listening but they are and they are not uneducated or stupid as Kerry would like to have meant. Just because some people dont have degree's does that make you truly uneducated. I know some of them that can tell you everything (if allowed by their officers) to tell you how to read a helicopter cockpits machine, among other things. I think the sign was a slap in Kerrys face, but kerry will be swept under the rug, until he attempts to run for something, it will be brought up and he wont live it down...

Did you also see on the same ABC segment that the American soldier is on average better educated than the average American civilan of the same age. That 97% of the officers are College grads? Must be heartbreaking to the answer man to find out that most service men and women are better educated and smarter than him!

yes it was funny I guess it shows than even in a war they have a sense of humor, it also shows our men and our enemies are listening to all this negative stuff some of our politicians are spewing and if it has a detrimental effect on the war.

Kerry was just pandering to California Commies and it was rude and obnoxious. However I bet a lot of soldiers would like to hold a banner asking "What the hell are we doing here?"

Troops are in general as dumb as puppetdent Bush. It needs some vacuum in a head in order to join the forces and to allow a fascist like Bush to abuse them. This is no small feat. In order to be a good soldier one has to check the brain at the entrance. Most soldiers are blessed by not being bothered with too much brain in the first place.
