should be legal. I do . I think it would be safer and if someone wants to go and have sex let them. It's no different then meeting someone at the club, having your drinks bought and going home with them. What are your thoughts?

I don't "approve" of it but I think if it was regulated it would be better for everyone. Prostitution will always be around. It's one of the oldest trades.

i dont approve of it, but if it was legal it would be safer, regulated, and taxed. it would be safer for the women involved as they wouldn't get beat up and could make more money and maybe have benefits. they women would have to be regularly tested for std so it would be safer for the clients, less drugs involved.

Yes, it should be legal. There is no excuse for making it illegal, frankly, and as a Libertarian, I believe most things should be legal unless they directly hurt others. Prostitutes -- not thieves or blackmailers who use prostitution to be dishonest or unfair -- are actually helpful in a variety of ways. Men learn what to do when they are young and inexperienced. Homely or handicapped men may not have any partners at all if they cannot pay for it; compassion for such men being at a premium. Men also have a more positive outlet for their energies than being overbearing and pushy, even raping, an innocent woman who does not want sex. But the most important reason is still that people have a right to make these sort of choices for themselves.

Since it is illegal, prostitution is often linked with other illegal activities, especially drugs, to no one's advantage. Except of course the crooks.

Having said all that, I still think it is not a particularly good profession for a woman. But if it was legal, a girl could take such a job while she was young and sweet enough to make good money at it, bank the money, and be independent in a few years. That's what the best models and actresses do, and frankly, what's the significant difference? We all know about the "casting couch syndrome."

Personally, I've never understood why prostitution isn't legal.

Like you say, meeting someone and having meaningless sex is legal, and buying products and services from people is legal. Why should bringing the two together possibly be illegal?

What is more, with a legalized prostitution system, there could be licensing so people going to one would know they are legitimate, and that licensing could require disease tests to make sure they're safe, and a birth certificate to make sure they aren't under age. It would even eliminate pimps who abuse and enslave the women who work for them.

I think it's a great idea. All we have to get past now is this Victorian era morality we always seem to suffer from.

Having a law does not change that it happens. It just makes it illegal and removes a layer of protection from people caught in it against their will.

I sometimes wonder if peole who did whoring 20 years ago would be proud about their life choice?

How many of the women who perform sexual acts for men really want to pay taxes. If it were legal how many more women become prostitutes. Don't have any answer for this sad situation.

Paying for sex is never right.

They should get married and then divorced adding vaue to the system making the divorce attorneys and judges rich then REALLY paying for it through alimony and child support.

Then again it may have the lower life cycle cost. :)

It should be illegal.

prostitutes throw their respect away by having sex with so many guys. it's really gross. they are not understanding what sex is supposed to be for.

prostitutes treat their bodies like they are objects. just waiting for some guy to come along so she can be his sex toy... isn't that just nasty!

also you never know what kind of diseases/sicknesses the prostitutes might have. and i wouldn't wanna take that risk...

they all need some serious help!

Hey little girl, life is not a fairy-tale world. Prostitution is not an innocent little transaction. It is often times the result of other insidious things such as drug dependence. With prostitution comes pimps, beatings, enslavement (for all intensive purposes) of women, etc. You are naive at best.
