Its shows a problem with the wife that she had failed to keep the husband happy. So she goes after the source but deep down wonders why or what the other women did or what she doesn't have to keep her man happy. Self doubt and anger

I think the blaming of the mistress is a lot easier to accept for the spouse because if she blamed the man then she would have to accept that it was his choice, and its far better for the wife's self esteem to think that the mistress "stole" the husband. It is also a lot easier to blame the mistress because in the majority of cases a man doesnt cheat unless there are problems within the marriage and if you blame the mistress you dont have to take responsibility in the part you played in him straying. I also think that the mistress is blamed simply because you assume she knew he was married and should not have gotten involved...which is a pretty normal thing to think, but the husband should have used self control as well. It is a two way street and no one person caused the situation. They have to take equal responsibility. Put simply, it saves the wife a lot of pride to blame the mistress because it puts her in the situation of the victim and she doesnt have to do any soul searching to work out why he strayed in the first place.

Because the wife is maybe still in love with/relies on/supported by the husband. Therefore it is easier to blame the mistress and ignore the fact the husband had any part of it.

I would blame both the husband and Mistress. The husband for going outside of the marriage and the Mistress because she should know better, not to get involved with a married man. It's hard though if it happens to you. Your anger gets the better of you and you just lash out at the first person you see.

I think she blames both, but is more angry at the mistress cause she does not have any relationship with her and hence no feelings for her. Naturally it is easier to blame the one you don't know and rightfully she might think why the mistress didn´t back out when she found out the man was married

Because we know that there are women out there who's sole purpose is to hunt down other women's men and try to win their affections away. Unfortunately for the men, the new woman gets bored with them as soon as she's won and broken up a couple. It's a fact, some women do this to boost their self esteem, it's ugly. But, I agree the man is just as much at fault, and would not put all the blame on the man-hunter or possibly innocent other woman who might not even know he is married.

I'm not sure, but I know I'd blame the husband! It was the husband who took the vows, not the mistress!

I believe the husband or wife that cheats is the one to blame most. If someone is on a diet and they are offered a chocolate cake it's the person on the diet that has to politely say no. Silly analogy but it gets the point across.

I always blame the mistress. But reading this question and the answers, it has changed my point of view - that it should be the husband who is more likely to blame. Thanks!

Because it's easier that way. I always think the same thing. If a guy cheats it's not he's fault but the mistress that total stupid.
