What is so funny is that us, citizens, wonder whether it is safe to visit the neighbour country, while we are so close to each other...
I remember, I had the same doubts when I won a 3-day cruise to the Aegean Islands and Kussadashi, 25 years ago... I was absolutely terrified to go ashore, because I was sure that I would be slaughtered.
When the other passengers convinced me to step foot on shore, we met a wonderful taxi driver, who made us a tour of the ancient monuments and on the way back (like all taxi drivers worldwide, he took the longest road back) he talked to us about his family, his daughter getting married to a police man (that he considered a great luck, as we did in Greece at the time), that he was very happy because he could buy her a colour tv as a wedding present (just like my parents, when I got married), his son getting a permanent employment in the Army and so many other details of the daily life, that made me really wonder, what's the big fuss behind the governments? We are almost the same; why would we feel adversity because of our governments?
Come to Greece, arkadash, I don't think that you will face any problems, just make sure that you do not do anthing provocative like burning Greek flags or insulting the Christian religion (although I'm sure that your education would not allow you to do so). Most Greeks wish peace and friendship between the two countries. If a war occured, neither Turkey or Greece would benefit of anything, just only the weapon merchands!...
Welcome!

If you put the politics aside you will be amazed by how many things we have in common. I dont think you will have any problem at all even if you say you are Turkish as long as you dont start cursing all the greeks in the middle of the city. :))
Seriously dont worry .The majority of greek people have no problem with the turkish people its only politicians who create problems.

No, unless you come with an ''attitude'' which I doubt you will!
I know many Greek people who have come to Turkey and they had no problems either, in fact they enjoyed themselves very much. Its unfortunate that politically Greece and Turkey cannot see eye to eye and some people are fanatic about it - that does not mean that for every single person it has to be a fight.
I hope you decide to go to Greece you will not regret it.

don't worry, am greek have a lot of turkish friends that came to visit me on lesvos island and they did not come upon any problems.
just as any greek would do in turkey, steer clear of political conversations and you will be fine :))))
by the way greek tourists in chesme?(opposite chios island) dont get such a nice welcome but that has more to do with the extreme political beliefs of the region.
have fun, relax and you will have a blast

If you run into any problems, just say "Hey, at least I'm not an American!"
(It's ok...I'm American. I know how most Americans act abroad and am personally ashamed and embarrassed by it. It's true...you can walk into a restaurant with your eyes closed and pick out 98% of them! Noisy bunch!)
