"Doing the right thing" as you worded it - means you are doing the right thing! You answered your own question without realising it!

I believe integrity is more important than loyalty. Difficult one though.

How can there be loyalty without integrity? If someone has to choose between the two, always maintain your integrity. It is priceless and no loyalty can replace it. Even gang members have loyalty-what's that worth in the larger context of things? It's guaranteed that your integrity will come with a cost to you personally, & more than once. But hardship comes to us all anyway, isn't it better to be for doing something right than for doing something that sacrifices integrity?Having integrity & being honest does not mean that you have to volunteer info. on your activities, what you say to whom, etc. and get yourself into hot water. You have to be savvy too, including in how you go about imparting information. Anonymous is always a safer route when in doubt.
It says great things about your character that you are grappling with these issues, sounds like you are smart and know how to value what's really important in life.

That is an ethics question often without absolutes that you must answer yourself depending on the situation. Some of these answerers say integrity above all but would you really turn your own son or mother in for a crime ? Everything in life is not black and white ..sometimes you must choose the wrong that is more right.

Does someone who is breaking the law, mistreating someone else, or lying, cheating , stealing, or abusing others deserve loyalty? Would I turn you in for chewing gum, or having a cell phone in your classroom. No. Would I turn you in for drugs, driving drunk, abusing a women or child, stealing, etc..etc.. In a heart beat. Loyalty is like respect. It is something that is earned, not free for the taking. I have a sense of loyalty to my community and the rest of society too.

It depends on what the situation is. If it is something petty keep your mouth shut. Why get someone in trouble over something that will be forgotten about in no time.
If it is something serious for example theft yes be a RAT!

YES. loyalty is a much over-rated virtue and depends upon its object for morality. being loyal to a bad person makes you a henchman.

Integrity is everything. Loyalty is being blind to truth.
