Can anyone please tell me what is "engineered print"?

I know that engineered printed shirts have a seamless image. There's a large image on let's say a shirt with buttons and its so seamless, the image is uninterrupted at the buttons. The image repeats every 17-18 inches and its expensive to create them because they require so much fabric.
