Depending on the type of relationship you may have with your daughter. She may or may not want you in the room during the physical. Why dont you ask her what she would like. You can always go in at the end when she is done with all her questions she may want to ask with out you in there. Then you can ask the doctor your questions that you may have. At 14 yrs old, she is at an age that she should have some privacy privilages.

Ask her what she would prefer. When I take my older children to the doctor, I go into the room with them while we wait for the doctor. I answer all questions that the child isn't able to answer, but allow them to answer the ones that they are able to answer. When the "physical" examination is about to begin, I leave the room and give the child privacy. After the examination, the doctor calls me back into the room.

Sweetie, the only one who can answer this question is your daughter and you.You must speak to her,and ask her how she feels about you being in the room with her. If,she is uncomfortable with you being present in the room, then you must accept that and respect her privacy. You must also realise she doesnt mean it to offend you or leave you out,but to simply give herself some privacy, and it is a small step toward independence. It may seem very small to us,but to her it feels as if is able to make some of her own decisions.Ultimately, you will have to ask her,and make her aware that it is completely her decision.Have a good day hun.Good luck.

If she wants you too then go with her, but if she doesn't then just stay in the waiting room. I still have my mother go into the examining room with me or I used to when I did go to the doctor's.

I have a very shy 15 yr old daughter, we have not went yet but I have decided to leave it up to her. I want to still speak with the dr after if she decides she dont want me in there but I think it is something they have to get used to so to push your way in might make her uncomfortable. I would let her decide.

If you are the father then NO, just hook up with the doctor after the exam. If you are the mother then this is something you should talk with your daughter about. If she is comfortable with you being there, then yes. But if not then as for the father, hook up with the doctor after the exam.

No, unless she or the doctor requests that you do. Kids are sometimes afraid to ask questions about development and are more likely to ask them if Mom or Dad isn't sitting there listening to their questions.

I'd let her go on her own so she can discuss other issues she may have which she may be embarrassed to talk to you about. Or just ask her and respect her wishes she's growing up now.

At around 11-13(for girls) I would suggest they go in alone; but of course you should still ask her if she wants you to go in with her.
