p.s. I actually need gloves on indoors today but can't find any.

10 points for imaginative ways to heat my house, or me, up

I tried going to the neighbours house and asked her to "warm me up".

Boy, did i get warmed up !.

However this was related to being chased down the road avoiding flying frying pans, and nothing to do with anything else.

I've also lit a fire in the dinng room, i really wish we'd installed a chimney now,the smoke is not too bad though, and opening the landing window has created a nice "draw" on the fire.

Is wallpaper flamable ?

When I am cold which is often I put two pjarma tops on a dressing gown with the hood up, I tuck my trousers in my sox and put my slippers on I try to then snuggle my boyfreind who usually wont have me looking like that so I move onto the my dog who is always toastie warm, after a bit he will try to nick my sox or slippers, so then I do the ironing which warms me up quickly or the hoovering. If you have none of these tasks to do stick the radio on and bop round the house until you are sweating

Where do you live? You know what they say "when there's frost on the pumpkin" If you actually need gloves on inside your house, isn't that an indication somethings amiss?

Why don't you want to turn the heat on now, what's the problem?
Your tabs, or "bib's" where I come from, will freeze and break if they're left frozen to long. Than your going to have all kinds of problems and, costly sooooo....I guess it's a good indication the heat should be turned on, huh!

I think you may need the heating on, just low. Ours is broken so I sympathise with your chills.

Hot drinks, keeping active, lots of cuddles with loved one (or anyone who will oblige!), try scrubbing floors or cupboards with nice hot water, put on some music you enjoy and dance around like an idiot until you feel warm (or collapse from exhaustion or hysterics).

You could try going outside without jumper or coat for a bit, then come back inside and appreciate that your house may be (hopefully) a little bit warmer than outside.

Open curtains when the sun shines, close them as soon as it is getting dark to keep any warmth in.

If all else fails, TURN ON YOUR HEATING and be grateful that you can!! :)

Are you a student? Hot water bottles in your bed for about 15 mins before going to bed, thicker duvet, blankets! Stay out of your house for as long as possible! I found that when I was a student sitting with my laptop on my lap (obviously it has to be on!) was warming too! Stay at your girlfriends house!

Alternatively put the heating on! It really doesn't do you that much good ti be in a cold damp house.

when i'm being stubborn about turning my heat on (because i think it's too early to have to do so), here's some things that i try:
1. hot shower...before you get into the shower, put the following in the dryer to heat up: long heavy socks, t-shirt, pants, hoodie sweater...after shower, dress in warm clothes
2. bake some cookies (or other goodies), the oven will help warm things up and you'll have something good to snack on
3. get a hand towel wet (then squeeze dry), warm in microwave, wrap in bath towel, then wrap around your neck while enjoying your favorite hot beverage

good luck!

Make some cookies, the oven will heat you up gor a little while. Then take your cookies to your nearest neighbour who has smoke coming out of their chimmney and plonk your butt on their sofa for a couple of hours. Then go home and go to bed.
