you need to have a return ticket. when you are in dubai, you can extend your stay at the immigration then you can rebook you return ticket but make sure the validity of your ticket should cover your extended stay. There are tickets that valid for 30 days only, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year. Of course there's a difference in rate but if you really intend to stay longer, buy a ticket that would cover it to avoid the purchase of another ticket. So make sure you ask the agent regarding the validity of your ticket.

Travel to Duabi and when u complete your 30 days in Dubai apply for visa extension when you get it then you can extend your ticket while in Dubai though the airline office or any travel agency. But any how the ticket you will buy will be valid for 90 days coz airlines change fares every 90 days.

Hope it helps

You can only get a refund on the return flight if you buy a full fair ticket. Of course those are very expensive. Otherwise if you call and cancel the return portion, the airline will charge you a fee, and give you a credit for the balance that has to be used within a year. Check with your airline, as they all have different rules on how this works.
