I have always liked my car because I liked the look of it and enjoyed the performance (still fantastic even by today's standards) but a young lady recently told me that any Ferarri other than a new one is tacky - so I'm just interested in a female general point of view

That is terrific ride!...it would be tacky not to have a twenty-year old Ferrari.

If it does make a difference to a girl which kind of car you drive you really have picked the wrong girl - when you grow up a bit or find yourself going through a hard time in life you will realise that material objects don't matter. Family and friends are the most important thing in life, not what car you drive.

'to have' like as in to make love to an old Ferrari? I'd say the word you would be looking for is 'painful', not 'tacky'!

More seriously, isn't it just a comment on a world obsessed by commodities that someone could wonder about their pulling power in terms of what sort of car they have. I guess we should all be grateful the question wasn't about the guy's pop-up toaster!

Its not tacky, but be prepared for high repair costs for a classic car that old.

it depends really, it doesnt do anything for me. it depends on the type of girl your trying to impress, for instance im a family type of person, so a man with a family car would appeal to me. where as the ferrari would appeal to people who you want to think you have plenty of money and into sports. you got to remember what your putting across about yourself whenit comes to possesions like this, and what kind of woman itll attract

Sorry but unless you are Michael Schumacher you shouldn't be in a Ferrari!

As long as its driveable and not a boy racers type of car - well no! but it really doesnt matter about what car you have or what material possesions you own!

No it's cool - a classic (I've had lots of twenty year old bangers that definately weren't classic - just rusty)

totally tacky, ferrari's are kewL when new or classic.
There is no "classic" 1980's Ferrari, it's just another older import.
