Maryland Came into This country as a Southern State, it is below the Mason Dixion Line, The Accent is Southern and so are the people. Folks please don't use that Mid Atlantic BS. Yes, Maryland is a southern state. The US census bureau classifies it as a southern state. It is south of the Mason-Dixon Line. And its state song contains the phrase "northern scum". Plus the internal government structure is more closely related to the south than the north. Because it has become urban, many Southerners, especially in the Deep South, consider it Northern. But Atlanta, Jacksonville, Memphis, and New Orleans are proof that there are urban areas in the south.

People in Maryland have a southern accent? I guess compared to people from Boston, but that's just a ridiculous statement.

The south doesn't really start until you get to Richmond, or Lynchburg, VA.
