Here in California, insurance rates depend on the kind of car you drive and where you live. It also depends on your driving experience and record. I'm older, have a safe driving record, and have complete coverage on my cars. Here, you can choose to simply have liability insurance, in case you cause an accident. That pays the person you hit, but your expenses are up to you to cover. I prefer to be covered as well. Different insurance companies have different rates, but also big differences in service. It pays to shop, but it also pays to look up their record in settling claims. I live in a semi-rural area, so my rates are lower than in the city. We pay $221.00 a month on 2 cars, a 2006 toyota Prius, and a 2004 Dodge Neon. Registration depends on the value of the car. - my bill for the Prius is $193 for the year. The Neon is about $100 - I don't remember exactly.

Im 22 year old female have a provisional lience, drive a 2002 VW 1.2 L have fully comp insurance and it cost me €1400 for the year. My father paid for my road tax and I think it was about €200. Pretty expensive but it will reduce when I get my fully lience and keep my "no claims bonus" with my insurance company.
On the other hand my brother, who's 23 years old, drives a 2004 hyandia coupe 2L with a full drivers lience, 3 years no claims and pays €900 for third party fire and thieft.
My best friend, 24year old female, drives a 2006 1.4L Octavia, has a full drivers lience 4 years no claims bonus pays €500 for fully comp. insurance.
It really all depands on your age, type of car, type of lience, previous claims, and insurance type.

It depends on a lot of things like: how old you are; what type of car it is; what sort of insurance you want.
Also different companies will quote you very different amounts so it is best to shop around or use a broker who will shop around for you. I use Norwich Union and find them very reasonable.
