Failure, more than anything else, is a state of mind.

You are only defeated if you think that you are.

Your attitude towards a certain situation determines whether or not you have failed yourself.

Failure is that state of a result which is not in accordance with what was aimed for. Failure could be partial or total depending on how in-congruent the result is. Reasons for failure could be classified in three categories. First, if what was aimed for was itself not right or achievable. Second, where the effort put in was not right either in quantity or quality or both. Third is where the equation changes during the time that the effort is being put in - this can happen due to change in circumstances, environment or third party indulgence or interference.

In our instinct to protect our self, we often attribute our failure to the third category, that is something not quite in our control, or destiny, or luck.

the word failure got so much meaning in it, it depends on persons perception.
a person is called failure when he is not up to the mark, in a school this can b decided by exams, but in life..society.. there wont b written exams..but our performance shows..if ur performance is not up to the mark then ur a failure candidate,
and Failure can b two kinds personal and social.
personal failure depends up on ur expectation and achievement,
social failure depends on responsibilities and performance in the society.
for example a parent have some responsibilities like 1.giving love to his/her kids.2bringing them up and giving them education. etc,
if one not done the above thing he is failure candidate.
same way a lover, a schoolboy, a teacher, president ......................... a human being got some responsibilities. if he is not fulfilling his responsibilities means he is failed.if a person may not achieve his personal goal.., that failure is not at all a failure, but social failure is the real failure.

Like success, this is very difficult to define unless you are thinking in terms of finality. You can fail, I have tasted the bitterness of failure. But it's just kind of flu. You get it sometimes but you can recover and be healthy again.

I think failure is where you have not achieved your goals and stayed that way forever, without giving it another go.

failure is a relative term. its a word, and the meaning we assign it is what constitutes failure. our experiences and life events determine our view about failure. just because we could not get what we want does not mean it's a failure altogether.

for an optimist there is no such word as failure, every step is an experience. having an alternative frame of reference always aids understanding of life, ultimately. i guess, i am too vague at what i expressed but profoundly speaking that's what i want to say about the word failure. to add to it, i'd say...lack of perseverance is failure. my school motto,"perseverance conquers all" still shapes me. it is my driving force.

Failure is when you quit. As long as you keep trying you cannot fail. Remember..."An obstacle is something you see when you take your eyes off the goal".
