I have to do a movie report on Ice Age, and it asks for themes. Is it similar to plot outline? I don't really understand it.

No. A plot is about the storyline. Who-does-what-to whom (that sort of thing).

Theme is the overall reason for the story. What is the central idea behind the film. What is the dominant motivation of the characters in the film. What is the ultimate message of the film? This is the idea behind theme.

For example, one of my favorite films is the "Shawshank Redemption." The plot is about a man's attempt to survive and then escape imprisonment. But the "theme" of the film is about the importance of keeping hope alive in the human heart, and of the tragic consequences that befall us when we lose hope.

I "hope" this answer helps.
