Sorry to hear that... it sucks when that's the way a year goes. I can understand because I'm in a similar position right now. Only subject I passed for the year was the one at the end of summer semester (which is right at the beginning of the year in Aust). A jumbo load of stuff happened in my personal life all year, it the academic side was just like a train wreck as a result. Thankfully I didn't enrol in a great number of subjects for the year in the first place, but it still puts me in a very bad position.
If it helps you at all... here's what I'm going to do.
* I'm going to contact the university's administration, and find out exactly where my results put me in terms of my enrolment.
* I'm going to re-enrol in a couple of subjects for the 2007 academic year.
* Then I'm going to be spending a decent amount of my time during the long summer break studying these subjects independently (before the courses have even started). Hopefully I'll have all the keywords and definitions done before the year begins.
* I'm going to obtain past exams from the university and test how much I have learnt over summer before the courses start.
* I'm going to have a great Christmas and New Year's, cause I'll be needing those couple of fun interruptions if I'm doing self-directed study all summer.
I hope everything works out for you too. Have a few drinks if it will blow of steam over the whole thing, before you dust yourself off and try it all again, but differently. If you are going to drink, make sure you're around good friends and in a social environment that makes you happy... not depressed.
All the best to ya mate

Maybe your drinking is part of the problem. Since that is not helping anything - you should give that up. Be honest with your folks. Be humble. Have specific goals - don't just say "I'm gonna do better". Make a written plan stating how you are going to do better. Also, maybe you need to take time off, learn to be more responsible & mature before going back to school. I don't believe that everyone shoud go to college straight out of high school. Most kids do not have enough life experience and maturity to do so. I wish you all the best. Don't give up. Deal with the situation. It's not going to go away. Hope you learn from your mistakes. God bless you.

I know how you feel. I failed a core class which keeps me from progressing to the next year. I am doing architecture and I felt really really sad. I felt like laying in bed in the curled position and lay there. BUt don't let it get to you. DOn't drink yourself silly. FInd out what went wrong and reflect on what you did wrong in your course. I felt like turd when i failed a main design class but if you give up, you will never find out what you can become. it hurts...
it feels like a kick in the guts. did your teachers say "why did you do this course" and "what are your priorities?"... if so then on the break reflect on what you do better and show you are better next time. I am redoing the architecture course but if that fails then find a related course or something that would make you happy.
If you give up, make sure you don't give up prematurely. work experience shows you another side of the profession you want. if you like it then continue. if you don't like it, then you have good reasons to not continue.
don't drink or cry but reflect upon your actions. i did this and i am making sure i pass architecture.

Cry it out. Failure is part of life. I failed my HSC exams 2 times with maths, but still I have a PHD position in Maths. So, you can do it. Dont drink. You just need to lift your self and prepare for one more attempt. Go on, you can do it. All the best for this time.

Maybe cry for a bit then pull yourself together and investigate whether you can rectify your problem through resitting exams or whether you need to repeat the year.
If you need to repeat the year, don't sweat it. You will be going into the year so much better prepared than those who are doing it for the first time. Learn from your experience, go forth and conquer!
