Believe me, they DON'T! If a man is TRULY happily married, with his needs fulfilled, then he will not sign up to an on-line dating agency. Why would he want/need to?
If a man who says he is happily married does this, then you can be sure that they are issues, either conscious or sub-conscious, that he does not want to address with his wife.

I think it's too easy to just say "They're not happy then". But it's much more complicated than that. You can be very happy with somebody and have a great partnership, but still need some sort of independance from the relationship. Marriage can be very smothering, and maybe he wants to feel like his own man every once and a while. Pretending to be single is one way of doing that I guess, and they get the ego boost along with it.
Also, people don't like to feel that they have no options in life. Marraige is very final and by choosing to be married, he's closed off a whole lot of other options, and maybe sometimes he wants to go and see what he's missing, if anything, just to prove to himself that the life he is living is definitely for him. You can't always expect people to marry someone and think "thats it then" and never reflect on their decision. You might love your job, but you can still browse the job ads and consider the merits of what you have chosen, even if you know you'll never leave.
Not trying to condone adultery, but it is a tricky concept and I think this very common behaviour goes to show that we might need to re-think our attitudes to it...

its easy to judge people very broadly...things arent always that black and white...a lot of people are not 'happily married' that claim to be ...other people may have other reasons...anything from an open relationship to a happy marriage but unsatisfactory sex life...or vice versa...im sure there are loads of just plain lying so and so's but not everyone is the same i guess different people have different reasons...its like saying why do happily married men go out on the pull...dating agencies are no different i guess...its up to you do the weeding,lol...good luck with it ;0)

Obviously they aren't happily married. Dump his sorry, lying about to be cheating as*. I would be looking up divorce attorney numbers as fast as the phone book would allow if I found out my husband was signed up with one of those sites.
