A box showing file names often pop up in my screen when I use the computer; a "dong dong" sound is also made.

Question

I have to remove the box each time it pops up and I cannot stop the "dong" sound which keep disturbing my work. Can someone tell me how to kill them both?

You must be automatically signing in to a messenging service when connecting to the internet. If you want to use the messaging service without the noise you should be able to fix this in the preferences of the software. If you do not want the messaging service then as suggested in the previous answer log out.

You can usually configure the software not to notify you when a "friend" comes online, as well as setting all the alarms to no sound. These measures would mean that you could work without annoyance whilst still having the messaging software running.
