Seems like you have sussed this out correctly - What this Government is really good at is creating new taxes. And with regard to the air that we breath, yes we can expect higher Council Tax charges in areas with better air quality.

Is Tony a YA-er? I didn't know this.

I'm not sure about the green tax for the double glazing bit but the council tax goes in bands and it is highly unlikely that by adding double glazing you will tip your property over into the next band. I know of someone who has added an extension which has made his house half as big again and he hasn't managed to move into another tax band.

There is speculation about green taxes but no definite plans or proposals.
Adding double glazing will not take your house into a higher band for council tax.
Double glazing will help to reduce your heating bill and make your home more comfortable.

I don't know who's telling you that double glazing will move you up a band for council tax, but thats not true.
Council tax doesn't work like that. Maybe you should check with your local council.

Must admit, I have not heard of this latest tax you speak about, but in no way would it surprise me if it happened. Maybe the next step will be to tax cows due to their emmissions ... the notion that each cow will have to start moonlighting at McDonalds in order to pay for the extra taxes is most amusing. On the same hand this would also mean that tree's would get a rebate for being so wonderfull ...

Very possibly, Ben Elton wrote a play in the '90's called Gasping about that very subject.

We will be taxed on breathing in for being a burden on society and then a green tax for exhaling Co2.

Each and every working person gives %50 of his salary to the government in direct and stealth tax. Can someone sit me down and tell me how the f*ck this is right. We need a revolution, f*ck em off. Green Tax my @ss. I`ll f*ck off back to the states first.

Let's face it, Man, democracy is the best of a bad bunch of options, although we elect them even democratic governments treat us like kids who have to be told what to do. Its time we reclaimed our responsibilty, after all we all know, in our heart's what best for us and the community, we don't need a bunch of lazy, narcissistic mind-fuckers to tell us what to do. It's true - we are being taxed to the hilt - and now we're going to be taxed some more.

Welcome to Britain.

It's the pits. (mind you there's none of those left is there?)

Yes its all about choices................ that's what the Labour Party has brought to this country..............The choices are keep paying each of these extra taxes or get out! ................ until we all say enough is enough they will keep adding tax after tax until we just give our complete wage packet over to the Chancellor every payday........... then they will think of something else!
